Strategy Engineer
The Strategy Engineer is responsible for developing, executing and continuously optimising race strategy throughout testing, qualifying and endurance race events to maximise the competitive performance of the assigned car.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop pre-event race strategies using simulation, historical data and performance modelling.
- Conduct pre-event strategy analysis and produce real-time race models and predictive analysis to support rapid decision-making.
- Work closely with engineering and team manager to deliver the optimum race outcome.
- Lead all strategic decision-making during testing, qualifying and race events.
- Monitor live race conditions, competitor strategies, Safety Car and Full Course Yellow to identify strategic opportunities.
- Monitor weather conditions, track evolution and tyre performance to adapt strategy throughout the event.
- Ensure compliance with championship sporting regulations relating to strategy, pit stops, stint lengths and minimum pit times.
- Conduct post-event strategy analysis, identifying performance improvements and contributing to the team's knowledge base.
Ideal Candidate:
- 3+ years' experience as a Strategy Engineer or Performance Engineer within professional endurance motorsport.
- Strong understanding of endurance racing strategy, including fuel modelling, tyre degradation, race simulation and sporting regulations.
- Highly analytical with excellent numerical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and make accurate decisions in rapidly changing race situations.
- Proficient in race strategy software, data analysis tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present clear, concise strategic information to engineers, drivers and management.
Race Engineer
The Race Engineer is responsible for the overall performance, operation and optimisation of the assigned race car throughout testing, qualifying and race events. Acting as the primary technical interface between the driver and the engineering team, the Race Engineer leads all performance-related decision making to maximise competitiveness and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical operation of the assigned race car throughout testing, qualifying and race weekends.
- Define and optimise vehicle set-up in collaboration with the driver, and Engineering team to maximise performance.
- Interpret vehicle data to identify performance improvements and implement engineering solutions.
- Direct all engineering activities during sessions, ensuring clear communication between the drivers, mechanics and support engineers.
- Work closely with the Strategy Engineer to execute race strategy, adapting to changing race conditions.
- Oversee car reliability, diagnosing technical issues and determining corrective actions under time pressure.
- Ensure the car is prepared and operated in full compliance with championship technical and sporting regulations.
- Produce event reports and lead post-event performance reviews, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
- Support the development of vehicle performance through structured testing, correlation and engineering analysis.
- Contribute to the development of engineering processes, procedures and best practices across the team.
Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years' experience as a Race Engineer in professional motorsport, preferably in endurance racing.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, chassis set-up, tyres, braking systems, aerodynamics and powertrain integration.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and telemetry systems, HHDM experience desirable.
- Proven ability to lead technical operations and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with drivers, mechanics and fellow engineers.
- Highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- A thorough understanding of ACO championship technical and sporting regulations.
Chief Truckie – LMP2
The Chief Truckie is responsible for the safe, efficient and professional operation of the team's race transporter, equipment and logistics.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead by example, setting high standards of professionalism, work ethic and attention to detail.
- Manage the performance, development and wellbeing of direct reports.
- Allocate workloads and responsibilities effectively across your team.
- Drive and operate the race transporter across the UK and Europe.
- Lead the loading and unloading of race cars, equipment and freight.
- Manage garage set-up and pack-down at race events and tests.
- Maintain transporters, awnings and equipment to the highest standards.
- Coordinate logistics with the Team Manager and Logistics manager.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and health & safety requirements.
Ideal candidate:
- HGV Class C+E licence.
- Familiar with CPC and ATA carnet processes
- Excellent people skills.
- Experience within professional motorsport or event logistics.
- Organised, practical and able to work independently.
- Flexible and willing to travel extensively.
No. 1 Race Technician
The No. 1 Technician is responsible for the preparation, build, maintenance and performance of an assigned race car throughout testing and race weekends.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the race car to the highest professional standard.
- Lead all mechanical work on the assigned car.
- Manage build schedules according to build specification and set up.
- Work closely with engineers and drivers to optimise car performance.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical issues under time pressure.
- Ensure compliance with championship regulations and team procedures.
Ideal candidate:
- 5 year + experience in professional motorsport.
- Strong understanding of race car systems.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Calm under pressure with strong organisational skills.
No. 2 Race Technicians
Working alongside the No. 1 Technician, the No. 2 Technician supports all aspects of race car preparation, maintenance and operation.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with car build and preparation.
- Service and maintain components.
- Carry out pit stop duties during races.
- Prepare spares and equipment.
- Ensure the garage remains organised and efficient.
- Support testing and event operations.
Ideal candidate:
- 3 year + experience in professional motorsport
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent teamwork and communication.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
Apprentice Technicians
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a career in professional motorsport.
Working alongside experienced technicians and engineers, you will receive practical training while assisting in the preparation and maintenance of Nielsen Racing's race cars.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with race car preparation.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and organisation.
- Prepare tools and equipment.
- Learn vehicle systems and motorsport procedures.
- Support mechanics during race weekends and testing.
