Test Coordinator
Mahindra Racing
Mahindra Racing is a motor racing team based in Banbury, United Kingdom, competing with an Indian racing license. The team is currently competing in the electric FIA Formula E Championship since the inaugural season in 2014.
Role Purpose
The Test Team Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of all operational requirements to support track, rig, and third-party test activities. The role ensures that test events are executed efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with logistics and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of team support and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Factory-Based Operations
• Manage driver and mechanics’ technical kit, including ordering, inventory control, replenishment, washing, and packing for test and race events, ensuring test equipment is accessible and not allocated to race freight.
• Support selection, ordering, and distribution of team kit for test personnel, ensuring test team requirements are aligned with the Race Team Coordinator and Marketing. • Support the Chief Test Engineer with circuit bookings, track services, and catering arrangements, maintaining accurate cost and attendance records for budget and environmental tracking.
• Plan test garage layouts.
• Support pre-event RACI meetings to ensure departmental readiness and communication. • Assist in planning and executing test garage and equipment turnaround and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with load planning for test trucks and freight containers, including maintaining full inventories of equipment and spares.
• Coordinate late freight consumables shipments.
• Provide support to goods inward and stores functions as required.
Test Event Responsibilities
• Complete shipping invoices and prepare freight labels and seals between events. • Ensure all test team services are delivered and positioned correctly.
• Lead garage set-up and pack-down operations.
• Maintain catering areas, overall garage presentation, and waste management standards. • Manage food deliveries, snacks, and drinks for the test team, including grocery purchasing when required.
• Coordinate catering arrangements directly with circuits.
• Manage onsite transfers and liaise with travel agencies; act as the main point of contact for all test team travel-related matters.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance team wellbeing during test events. • Support the Chief Mechanic with spare parts management.
Logistics & Compliance Support
• Act as Company Dangerous Goods Representative for air, sea, and road freight movements. • Serve as KC application responsible person.
• Prepare detailed export documentation, including weights, dimensions, serial numbers, and manufacturing details for test-related shipments.
• Generate ATA carnet applications for international test movements.
• Complete supplier-to-supplier shipment invoicing.
• Coordinate late freight and hand-carry shipments.
• Provide pre-event pick lists to Stores, ensuring minimum stock levels for test activities in coordination with the Chief Mechanic.
• Process post-event returns to the UK, ensuring correct routing for repair, testing, or quarantine.
• Support external shipping consultants and logistics suppliers with detailed shipment instructions and documentation control.
Additional Duties
• Operate company forklift when required.
• Drive company van when required.
Experience & Requirements
• Previous experience in a similar role within Formula E, Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, WEC, or equivalent motorsport is preferable.
• Proactive, organised, and hands-on with a strong team-oriented mindset. • Ability to work long and unsociable hours, including significant travel and weekends. • Strong organisational skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high performance testing environment.
