Apart from running various international race programs, WRT is also known as manufacturer through its subsidiary, WRT Manufacturing which develops roll cages and chassis reinforcement for several of the world’s largest works motorsport programs, including the complete build of all some race cars

Role: Suspension and Performance Engineer
Where: BMW M Team WRT GTP Programme
Program: GTP Programme, USA
The duties of the Suspension and Performance Engineer will include:
- Lead development in damping and ride concepts that can be applied to vehicle setups based on 7 post testing and simulations.
- Analyse 7 post rig data, on board vehicle track data and simulations to identify and implement performance improvements.
- Lead/ Contribute to Rig testing sessions including preparation, execution of testing and analysis.
- Support engineering crews in developing optimal car setups based on data analysis, simulation, and driver feedback.
- Monitor and manage vehicle performance during free practice, qualifying, and race sessions.
- Work collaboratively with vehicle dynamics, tyre, systems, and simulation teams to validate tools and models.
- Prepare detailed pre- and post-event reports highlighting key performance insights.
- Assist in developing automated tools for data processing and visualization.
- Support rig tests, dyno work, and simulator sessions as required.
- Ensure compliance with technical regulations and BoP (Balance of Performance) limitations.
The Performance Engineer should have the following desired skillset:
- Degree in Motorsport Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in professional motorsport, preferably in WEC, IMSA, IndyCar
- Experience with third element suspensions.
- Strong proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, ATLAS/MoTeC, Wintax, Excel).
- In-depth understanding of vehicle dynamics, tyre modelling, and damping.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., lap-time simulation, driver-in-the-loop simulators, virtual 7 post).
- 7 Post and Virtual 7 Post testing/ development experience would be desired.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, high-stakes environments with tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for clear interaction with drivers and technical teams.
- Flexibility to travel extensively, including weekends and long hours at race and test events.
