Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
 
Audi will compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
 
The new team has three locations. The Audi Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 Factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the United Kingdom will start operations this year. Our power unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for chassis development and race operations.

This position for the Audi F1 Project is available at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

As a developer of powertrain simulation in the context of the entire vehicle, you will contribute significantly to the success of the project and define the development directions for the various sub-departments. You will be involved in maximizing the performance of one of the most powerful and efficient hybrid powertrains in the highly competitive motorsport environment of Formula 1.

 

Your tasks

  • Development of a state-of-the-art full-vehicle simulation to optimize lap time performance and energy management
  • Continuous development of the simulation/optimization framework through implementation of user requirements and integration of complex vehicle and drive models
  • Identification and implementation of measures to improve the convergence and robustness of the optimization
  • Research, evaluation and implementation of numerical solution methods from the specialist literature
  • Support of concept analyses for system design for the F1 2026 PU regulations
  • Independent and collaborative work with colleagues from model and software development

 

Your profile

  • Successfully completed technical or scientific studies or doctorate (engineering, mathematics, computer science or similar)
  • Sound knowledge and several years of professional experience in numerical optimization
  • Advanced knowledge of optimal control or model predictive control
  • Good knowledge of linear algebra, analysis, dynamic systems and differential equations
  • Knowledge of lap time simulation and vehicle modeling
  • Extensive programming experience in Matlab, Python or C++
  • Experience with agile software development processes and versioning tools such as Git/SVN is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, systemic and independent working skills as well as strong teamwork skills
  • Enjoy working in an international team
  • Fluent German or English skills as well as the willingness to learn basic knowledge of the other language are required
