General Summary:

This position reports to the RTS Chief Mechanic, or his designee, and is based in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the RTS mechanics group, coordinating workflow, along with the build and servicing of Haas F1 car parts and pit equipment.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship of personnel within the RTS mechanics group; directing and coaching team members to maximize the department’s performance and oversee daily activities.

  • Liaise and distribute information to various departments in an accurate manner, whilst ensuring tight deadlines are adhered to.
  • Report reliability issues as they occur and seek advice before undertaking any out of the ordinary tasks.
  • Responsibility for the cleanliness and condition of your work area
  • Following Engineering procedures and protocols as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure car components assembled by the RTS mechanics are consistently built to the highest standards and correct build specifications.
  • Accountable for the build and maintenance of all pit stop equipment, such as wheel guns and jacks.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and servicing of off car and other associated garage equipment, such as rigs, fans, stands and alike.
  • Work with the parts coordination teams to ensure component quantities are aligned with trackside expectations and allocations, with all parts transferred and located digitally in D365 and built in Lifecheck.
  • Work closely with the design and engineering groups to resolve technical challenges and fault fixes.
  • Have a good understanding of all car parts, process, and procedures.
  • Follow Lifing and UIIL requirements to ensure full compliance is met in line with the regulations.
  • Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate Turnarounds, Engineering Projects, Car Builds and Event Support.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates and modifications.
  • Ability to consistently work to the highest standards with an exceptional attitude towards attention to detail.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to work under pressure, self-motivation, time management, conflict resolution, adaptability, willingness to learn, etc.
  • Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
  • Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience using systems such as or equivalent to Microsoft D365, 3DX & Lifecheck.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
