Role Description

The Race Engineer who will be responsible for the engineering of one of our racing car and driver at all race events, testing and simulator attendances for the LMDh-project.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Participate at races, testing & simulator work.
  • Liaise and work with other engineering colleagues transversally across the programs to share methodology and know-how which would remain intellectual property of WRT.
  • Share information and proactively promote the development of the Engineering Workgroup.
  • Report to the Program Manager and in matrix to the Engineering Group.
  • Manage the daily engineering operations on his car including those of his car-crew in conjunction with the Crew Chief.
  • Have the ability to set priorities in function of the workload and the race programs.
  • Promote high-standards and quality of service and team spirit in the workforce (“Best in Class”).
  • Be respectful of his colleagues and team-members, help to coach, empower and develop others.
  • Work in tight collaboration with the performance engineer in his team.
  • Collaborate with and/or lead Engineering Workgroups dedicated to development of soft-tools (eg, simulation and strategy tools) and hard-tools (eg., pit-equipment optimization, driver simulator) for improving performance of car and team (transversally across the different sporting programs).

 

Required skills

  • Multiple-year motorsport (preferably in high-level categories such as DTM (class 1), F1/F2, LMP2, Hypercar, DPI) experience, a strong technical background, experience and knowledge of racing cars.
  • Hands on approach with a flexible “Can Do” & “Will Do” attitude.
  • Flexible with workload and tight deadline.
  • Solid knowledge of English required, notions of German considered as a bonus.
  • Pro-active problem solver.
  • Strong communicator, strong organizational and planning capacities.
  • Strong team-player and strong interpersonal skills, motivated to reach goals and objectives of the team.
  • Strong computer skills in data analysis software (WinTAX, Pi Toolbox ideally), MS Office & VBA, Matlab a plus
  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions at any time. 
  • Flexibility for travelling.
