Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
 
Audi will compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
 
The new team has three locations. The Audi Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 Factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the United Kingdom will start operations this year. Our power unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for chassis development and race operations.

This position for the Audi F1 Project is available at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

As a senior developer in the area of powertrain performance and simulation in the context of the entire vehicle, you will contribute significantly to the success of the project and set the development direction for the various sub-departments. You will be involved in maximizing the performance of one of the most powerful and efficient hybrid powertrains in the highly competitive motorsport environment of Formula 1.

 

Your tasks

  • Supporting simulation development to optimize lap time performance and energy management
  • Conducting performance analyses & sensitivity/parameter studies with a focus on the influence of the powertrain on lap time performance
  • Management and plausibility check of simulation parameters/data as well as ECU/data logging channels
  • Analysis of existing simulation tools in terms of model quality, computing time and robustness
  • Ensuring the correlation of model parameters with reference data
  • Active participation in Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) sessions and their preparation and follow-up 
  • Complete vehicle simulation according to the 2026 PU regulations with a focus on the influence of the powertrain on driving dynamics
  • Systematic visualization of simulation and measurement data and creation of reports on the status of vehicle/powertrain performance
  • Identification of the improvement potential of the processes and tools as well as suggestions/solutions for the implementation of the improvements
  • Independent and collaborative work with colleagues from vehicle and drive development to support system design and testing

 

Your profile

  • Successfully completed technical or scientific studies or doctorate (mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics or similar) 
  • Several years of professional experience as a performance/race engineer in high-level motorsport environment 
  • In-depth knowledge of driving dynamics, racing car performance and lap time simulation
  • Expertise in drive systems (especially hybrid powertrains) desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of MATLAB programming 
  • Knowledge of Simulink, C/C++, Python is an advantage
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as ATLAS, WinTax or similar
  • Experience with documentation and versioning tools such as Jira, Git or similar is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, systemic and independent working skills as well as strong teamwork skills
  • Enjoy working in an international team
  • Enjoyment of work, with a strong hands-on mentality
  • Fluent German or English skills as well as the willingness to learn basic knowledge of the other language are required
