The role of Number One Mechanic is the front-line of the race team. Working in collaboration with the Team Manager, Engineers and Drivers, you are responsible for the preparation, maintenance and day-to-day running of a race car.
Fortec Motorsport is a team steeped in championship success in the UK and Internationally, currently competing in the British F4, GB3 and GB4 championships.
Key Responsibilities
- Under guidance of Chief Mechanic, prepare the car for Test and Race Events
- Work with Chief Mechanic and Workshop Manager to maintain the highest standards of car preparation and presentation
- Responsible for running a car on Test and Race events under the supervision of the Chief Mechanic
- Implementation of setup changes in collaboration with Engineers to maximise vehicle performance
- Ensuring that cars runs as expected, ensuring proactive and competent maintenance
- Assist with event build and pack-down for Test and Race Events
- Additional workshop tasks as required
Key attributes we require
- Experience running single seaters
- Ability to prepare and maintain a car with limited supervision
- Knowledge and experience of implementing setup changes unaided
- Strong attention to detail and task ownership
- A proactive individual who takes pride in their preparation
- Comfortable working in a racing environment and ability to cope with the high-pressure environment that this can be
- A reliable individual who exhibits a professional attitude and behaviour around drivers and their entourage
- A strong work ethic with enthusiasm and energy for this key role
