Lead Composite Technician
The Lead Composite Technician is a travelling role with responsibility for establishing and running Nielsen Racing's in-house composites capability, supporting our LMP2 and LMP3 race programmes.
The successful candidate will take ownership of composite preparation, repair and bodywork readiness across the team, both at our Sywell headquarters and at race and test events.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, organise and run the in-house composites department.
- Take ownership of composite repairs, preparation and maintenance across our LMP2 and LMP3 cars.
- Manage bodywork preparation and repairs, including during tight event turnaround periods.
- Carry out high-quality structural and cosmetic composite repairs.
- Maintain appropriate materials, tooling, equipment and stock within the composites department.
- Work closely with the Chief Mechanic and No.1 Race Technicians to ensure cars and spare bodywork are prepared and ready for each event.
- Attend race and test events as required and provide trackside composite support.
- Maintain the high standards of presentation and workmanship expected across the race team.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous professional motorsport composites experience is essential.
- Strong practical experience with pre-preg carbon, wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, bonding, structural repairs and mould/tooling work.
- Race-team experience and a clear understanding of the deadlines, pressures and standards required within professional motorsport.
- Able to work independently, prioritise workload and take ownership of the composites function.
- Flexible and willing to travel extensively throughout the race season.
- LMP2, LMP3 or other prototype experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a full-time role based at Sywell Aerodrome, Northamptonshire, and involves:
- Extensive UK and international travel.
- Regular weekend and public holiday working during the race season.
