General Summary:

This position reports to the Head of IT or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK.  The Infrastructure Operations Manager is responsible for the strategy, reliability, performance and continuous improvement of Haas F1 Team’s IT infrastructure, platforms and core systems.

The role ensures infrastructure initiatives and operational needs are delivered safely, on time and within budget, with a clear focus on service quality, resilience, security and innovation.  It ensures infrastructure requirements are defined, prioritised and delivered in line with business needs and operational standards.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the Infrastructure, Cloud and Apps team, ensuring targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Manage department personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
  • Mentor, train and guide personnel as required. Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
  • Responsible for working within departmental budgets.
  • Produce monthly reports to the Head of IT detailing the status of the team, infrastructure and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of IT or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a collaborative and high-performing team through recruitment, onboarding, training and coaching, setting clear expectations and fostering accountability.
  • Define and execute the strategy for IT infrastructure, platforms and core systems, owning the full lifecycle and providing governance and technical leadership.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement to deliver modern, secure, scalable, resilient and highly available services, underpinned by robust backup and tested disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations, ensuring service quality, resilience and operational excellence across all supported environments.
  • Maintain and optimise on-premises and cloud infrastructure, platforms and core systems, ensuring performance, capacity, patching and lifecycle management.
  • Lead and ensure end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects and improvements, ensuring scope, timelines, budgets, risks and dependencies are effectively managed.
  • Establish, monitor and report on KPIs and SLAs to drive prioritisation and measurable service improvements.
  • Manage Incident & Corrective Action and Change Control processes.
  • Ensure infrastructure and platform continuity during major incidents, remaining contactable outside normal hours and leading response and recovery, either directly or by coordinating the required resources.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including contract/term negotiation and performance oversight.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translate demand into technical roadmaps and maximise value delivered.
  • Perform hands-on administration duties as required.
  • Provide 3rd line technical support escalation services, ensuring adherence to SLAs.
  • Oversee ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Further education such as BSc or MIS in an IT related qualification or equivalent experience required.
  • Over 10 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 2 years in a team leader or managerial role.
  • IT and cyber/information security certifications are advantageous.
  • Exposure to international environments is advantageous.

 

Specialised Knowledge and Skills:

Technical expertise

  • Extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience across on-premises and cloud enterprise infrastructure and platforms.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure operations, including service reliability, performance, availability, capacity and lifecycle management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft server, cloud and client environments.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualisation, containerisation, enterprise networking, Linux-based platforms and system integration across complex environments.
  • Demonstratable ability to embed secure-by-design practices and security controls into infrastructure and platforms as standard.
  • HPC experience is advantageous.

 

Leadership, strategy and delivery

  • Proven success in infrastructure operations management and strategy development, translating business needs into practical roadmaps.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams, setting clear expectations and driving accountability.
  • Strong project and delivery management capability, with a proven track record of delivering key IT projects and change initiatives, balancing scope, risk, budget and timelines.
  • Experience managing end-to-end infrastructure delivery, from requirements and design through build, transition to run and continual improvement.
  • Ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives, ensuring outcomes are measurable and value-led.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritise within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic or international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
