General Summary:

This position reports to the Indirect Procurement Manager and is located in Banbury, UK. The Indirect Buyer role is a permanent position and will be responsible for the timely delivery of quality goods and services within budget. Proactively ensures best practices are adopted and followed.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for indirect procurement of goods and services to support the operation of the wider team, ensuring delivery, cost, and quality targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Operate within budgets and achieve agreed procurement cost saving targets.
  • Other duties as assigned by Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Provide purchasing support for the indirect category of equipment, from facilities, IT, marketing and HR through to the services that support the wider race team, including transport, consumables, garage & pit equipment, etc.
  • Follow purchasing guidelines, policies and procedures, continually challenging cost, quality and lead time.
  • Sourcing value for money, quality suppliers, and securing commercially appropriate quotations; negotiating pricing and payment terms.
  • On-board new vendors and setting them up on the ERP system as required, ensuring the appropriate process is followed, utilizing standard terms and conditions and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Processing requisitions and raising purchase orders and updating the wider team on the status of orders.
  • Expediting deliveries to the required timescales, and maintaining accurate order-books, ensuring information is kept topical.
  • Experience to foresee potential quality and delivery risks, with the knowledge to implement corrective actions.
  • Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best price, quantities and delivery timescales.
  • Responsible for invoice queries and liaising with the finance department to ensure resolution.
  • Confidence to feedback any changes which could reduce the cost and/or improve the quality of supply without negatively effecting the function of the good or service.
  • Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Indirect Procurement Manager or their designee.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • A minimum of three or more years of Purchasing or Supply Chain experience.
  • Experience in the motorsports industry would be advantageous, but not essential.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
  • Be able to operate with an uncompromising attitude to accuracy of delivery information, and high quality of delivered output.
  • Able to manage a category or categories whilst being able to deliver tactical solutions.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Proficient with industry standard ERP Systems.
  • Proficient in software applications such as Power BI, Microsoft Office, Teams, & SharePoint.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some, occasional domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
