Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
 
Audi will compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
 
The new team has three locations. The Audi Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 Factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the United Kingdom will start operations this year. Our power unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for chassis development and race operations.

This position for the Audi F1 Project is available at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

In the area of high-voltage storage development, you will work on the key component of high-performance electric drives and contribute to competitiveness in a highly competitive environment. You will be involved in requirements management, method development, and detailed design for HV battery concepts, HV electronics, and battery cell definitions for high-performance motorsport applications. You will accompany your development through assembly and testing on our own test bench.

This position is available starting January 1, 2026.

 

Your tasks

  • Development and design in the field of high-voltage batteries for use in Formula 1 vehicles
  • Consideration of mechanical, thermal and electrical requirements for the integration of the high-voltage battery into the overall system of the power unit
  • Collaboration with simulation, manufacturing and testing departments to optimize components in terms of performance and reliability
  • Creation and maintenance of CAD models, drawings and parts lists with CATIA V5 and PDM/PLM systems
  • Selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes
  • Further development of production and assembly technologies as well as preparation of production and assembly instructions
  • Tracking and analyzing findings from testing and racing to derive constructive improvements
  • Conducting design reviews, creating assembly instructions and technical documentation
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration in the development and construction of the Energy Recovery System (ERS)

 

Your profile

  • Completed studies in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering or comparable
  • Several years of professional experience in the design of the ERS system in motorsport
  • Several years of design experience in part and surface design (Catia V5) including the creation of production drawings
  • Experience in selecting suitable high-performance materials for a wide range of applications
  • Understanding of electrical, thermal and structural requirements of high-voltage batteries
  • Experience in the design of fiber composite components as well as in the field of high-voltage batteries, battery junction boxes and power electronics is an advantage
  • Implementation strength as well as a high degree of motivation and initiative
  • Strong teamwork skills 
  • Goal-oriented, independent and structured way of working
  • Fluent German or English skills as well as the willingness to learn basic knowledge of the other language are required
