Head of Mechanical Systems Department – Transmission, Suspension, Steering, Brakes & Hydraulics (TSDFH)

 

Stellantis Motorsport is recruiting, for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 

 

 

1. Role Summary

The role is responsible for the leadership, coordination and technical accountability of the TSDFH Department within the PEUGEOT TOTALENERGIES 9X8 Hypercar programme.

The position operates with a high level of autonomy and accountability, covering engineering, development, validation, production support and race operations for all assigned mechanical systems. Accountable for compliance with the budget within the assigned technical scope

 

2. Key Responsibilities

Technical & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and manage development engineers across the following technical domains: 

               - Transmission & Gearbox systems

               - Hydraulic systems and dampers

               - Chassis mechanical systems: suspension, steering and braking

  • Own the sub-system definitions and technical roadmaps, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, cost and timing objectives, meeting the project performance objectives.
  • Drive performance optimisation and reliability improvement plans, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Oversee engineering laboratories and system validation activities.

 

Programme & Interface Management

  • Manage internal and external interfaces, including: 

               - Design office, simulation and CAE teams

               - Planning and purchasing functions

               - Tier-1 integrators and component suppliers

  • Coordinate system definition control, assembly configurations and lifecycle/mileage tracking.
  • Act as technical authority for subcontracted and support activities integrated within the department.

 

Manufacturing, Quality & Supply to Track

  • Supervise production activities, including: 

               - Assembly, overhaul and revision of sub-assemblies

               - Deliveries to dyno testing and vehicle build

  • Ensure part quality and compliance for test and race supply.
  • Define, maintain and enforce manufacturing, assembly and installation processes and standards.

 

Testing & Validation

  • Take ownership of component and system test benches.
  • Plan and deliver development, validation and acceptance testing prior to race and test deployment.
  • Ensure readiness of systems for competitive operation.

 

Planning & Budget Control

Own development, production and operational planning for the department.

Build and manage race and test supply plans, including first-fit and spare parts logistics.

Prepare, monitor and control the department budget.

 

People & Operations Management

  • Line management responsibility for Stellantis personnel within the department.
  • Lead teams operating in laboratories and deployed on-track during tests and race events.
  • Ensure alignment with programme priorities, safety standards and operational excellence.

 

3. Professional Skills

  • Strong expertise in mechanical engineering: transmission, suspension, steering, braking and hydraulic systems
  • Project management: planning, budget and resource control
  • Solid understanding of engineering, testing and production quality processes
  • Proven leadership and line management experience in a motorsport or high-performance environment
  • Professional English – C1 level 

               - Ability to work efficiently in an international environment

               - Leading and participating in technical meetings in English

               - Effective communication with international partners, suppliers and stakeholders
