Our Team

Since the 2026 season, Audi has been competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.

This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

You work at the center of a Formula 1 program that is not a traditional development organization, but rather a performance system under maximum time pressure.
Your decisions have a direct impact on test bench operations, simulation, and the race track—without detours, without lengthy alignment loops. You are part of a team redefining the mechanical foundation of an entire power unit—within a regulatory framework that simultaneously demands efficiency, electrification, and maximum performance.

Your Mission

  • End-to-end development of the cranktrain, piston assembly and crankcase - from concept to the race track
  • Independent definition, planning and execution of engine and component testing (test bench & analysis)
  • Performance-driven optimization of friction, wear and mechanical integrity under F1 operating conditions
  • Data-driven analysis of test bench, engine and vehicle data to derive technical decisions
  • Root-cause analysis of failures down to component and material level, including causal logic and design implications
  • Derivation and implementation of design and process improvements in close collaboration with design, simulation and operations
  • Technical ownership of rapid concept iteration through to robust series maturity in race conditions
  • Clear and precise communication of technical results

Your Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a comparable field (preferably with a master's degree or PhD)
  • Several years of experience in the development of high-performance internal combustion engines or F1/motorsport powertrains
  • Deep understanding of engine mechanics, tribology, materials, and test bench methodologies
  • Proven experience in planning and executing engine and component testing
  • Strong analytical capability in complex failure and system interactions
  • High standards of technical excellence, speed, and ownership of results
  • Structured, independent working style with strong decision-making skills
  • Very good German or English language skills (with willingness to actively use the other language)
