Title: Dyno Development Engineer

Ideal candidate

Requires a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport or a related engineering discipline, plus experience with:

  • Engine dynamometers and powertrain testing
  • Data acquisition and analysis
  • Engine performance and combustion
  • ECU calibration/control systems
  • MATLAB/Simulink, Python or similar engineering tools
  • Motorsport or high-performance automotive environments
  • Ideally CP Sierra dyno data acquisition and operating systems
  • An organised approach to tasks and good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to perform well under pressure 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and maintenance of the two Mountune test cells and related test equipment.
  • Plan and execute engine dyno tests to assess performance, reliability, efficiency and durability.
  • Analyse dyno data to identify performance improvements and investigate faults.
  • Develop and optimise engine calibration, including fuel, ignition, boost and other control parameters.
  • Develop test methods, automation and instrumentation to improve dyno capability and test repeatability.
  • Take technical briefings from management and the engineering team to develop engine test programs to meet performance objectives, within budget and on time.
  • Support engine development programmes from initial concept through to race-ready specification.
  • Develop motorsport engine calibrations and strategies.
  • Data analysis
  • Maintain all Mountune Racing developed engine calibrations including any revisions and updates from track testing.
  • Ensure that all engine test results, calibrations and relevant data are stored accurately on the Mountune Racing server
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Maintain Mountune Racing track support laptop computers.
  • Liaise with customers dealing with technical enquiries in relation to engine testing and development.
  • Attend off site races and testing as required (including overseas travel).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of dyno facilities, test procedures and data-analysis tools.
