About the Team

ACI Motorsport is a multi-championship-winning operation, reigning 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup North America (PCCNA) Pro-Am Champions and runner-up in SRO GT4 America Pro-Am. We currently campaign fourteen cars across three championships — six in PCCNA, four in Porsche Sprint Challenge, and four in SRO GT4 America (two Porsche, two BMW). With expansion planned for the 2027 season into SRO GT3, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Porsche Carrera Cup, and SRO GT4, we are seeking talented individuals to join our growing operation at the highest levels of North American motorsport.

The Systems / Data Engineer position plays a critical role in optimizing race car performance by analyzing data, maintaining vehicle electronics, developing tools, and supporting race strategy.

Role and Responsibilities

Telemetry and Systems Setup

Configure, calibrate, and maintain telemetry and logging systems across the GT3 and GT4 fleet. Manage live telemetry links at circuits, including antenna placement, base station setup, and channel configuration to ensure uninterrupted data flow to the pit wall throughout every session.

Data Collection and Analysis

Use specialized data software to gather, analyze, and interpret time series data from multiple sources, identifying opportunities for performance improvement. Present findings to the race team and provide data-driven recommendations for enhancements.

Vehicle Electronics and Wiring

Diagnose, repair, and modify vehicle wiring harnesses, including sensor installation, connector repair, loom fabrication, and fault-finding on complex GT3 electrical systems. The ability to resolve electrical issues in-house — at the workshop and trackside — is a significant strength for this role.

Sensor Management

Install, calibrate, and validate sensors across the vehicle, including damper pots, ride height, brake and tire temperature, pressure, and strain gauge systems. Maintain sensor calibration records and verify data integrity before each session.

Tool Development

Develop and employ tools to simulate and analyze potential performance gains, leveraging simulation software to validate and confirm outcomes.

Race Strategy Support

Collaborate with the Race Engineer on pre- and post-event analyses, focusing on deriving insights from data and assessing competitor information. Contribute to live race strategy by making real-time decisions using tools such as HH Timing, integrating tire degradation data, lap times, fuel consumption, and other crucial performance metrics.

Communication and Connectivity

Set up and maintain radio communication systems, ensuring clear and effective communication between team members during races and test events. Manage the installation and configuration of Wi-Fi networks at race venues, facilitating reliable data transfer and connectivity for the team.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Motorsport, or related discipline).

Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years in data analysis and vehicle systems within motorsport.
  • Direct experience with GT3 telemetry setup and operation is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in SRO, IMSA, or equivalent professional sportscar competition.

Software and Systems Proficiency

Advanced working knowledge required in:

  • Pi Toolbox — data collection, analysis, and report building.
  • Bosch motorsport ECUs, displays, and logging systems.
  • MoTeC — M-series ECUs, C-series displays, and i2 analysis software.
  • HH Timing — live timing and strategy.
  • MATLAB for simulation, data processing, and engineering computation.
  • VBOX and equivalent GPS-based logging systems.

Additional Technical Strengths

  • Wiring harness repair, modification, and fabrication (a major advantage).
  • Soldering, crimping, and Autosport/Deutsch connector work to motorsport standard.
  • CAN bus configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of manufacturer technical documentation and wiring schematics.

Event Support Requirements

  • On-Site Data Analysis: Conduct real-time data analysis during testing and racing, providing insights that directly influence performance and strategy.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with race engineers, mechanics, and other team members to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation, fostering a cooperative environment under pressure.
  • Adaptability: Respond flexibly to varying conditions and challenges arising during test sessions and races, which typically take place on weekends and at locations across the country.
  • Hands-On Involvement: Actively support the team at events, addressing data and electrical issues immediately and contributing to on-the-spot decision-making.
  • Attendance: The Systems / Data Engineer must be willing to support the team at all test and race events.

Personal Qualities

  • Methodical, calm, and systematic when fault-finding under time pressure.
  • Strong communicator, able to translate complex data into clear recommendations for drivers and crew.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist across departments.

Pay & Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. All travel expenses (flights, hotels, meals) covered by the team.
