The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.

 

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:

This position reports to the Head of Programme Management or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for running the programmes and associated projects of the current car, this role needs to collaborate and coordinate cross-functionally.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop trustworthy relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the department, ensuring targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Manage department personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
  • Mentor, train and guide personnel as required. Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
  • Responsible for establishing and adhering to departmental budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Programme Management or their designee.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the creation of the launch car build plan collaborating with the operational and race team functions of the team.
  • Work with the Head of Programme Management to ensure plans are created based on realistic car build dates, both pre-season and in-season.
  • Responsible for the deployment of programmes and projects of work related to the current year car.
  • Accountable for processing design emissions promptly to instruct downstream departments regarding event target, quantities and required delivery date.
  • Work with the procurement department and Haas supply chain to mitigate any misalignments between plans and current status.
  • Responsible for the creation, publication and delivery of the event based car specification compiling information from both technical and operational departments.
  • Responsible for the deployment of programmes of work trackside ensuring that all parts are available and all feedback distributed across the operational departments.
  • Working with the operational and trackside departments to ensure all aspects related to upgrades (e.g. logistics, paint, trackside quantities etc..) are planned and communicated across the departments.
  • Chair weekly meetings where the status of programmes are reviewed cross-functionally.
  • Responsible for the review and actioning of current car trackside shortages working with all departments to ensure any spend is correctly targeted.
  • Oversee the ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Further education including University Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering desired.
  • Preferably 6 years of experience in motor racing as an engineer across different roles and series.
  • Prior experience in Formula One is advantageous.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to supervise others, communicate effectively, and liaise with fellow workers to get desired results.
  • Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
  • Strong technical background in car/ mechanical design / operation / build / preparation / car performance.
  • Needs to be proactive, flexible, organized and able to prioritize own workload.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products, PLM systems (3DExperience) and ERP systems (Dynamics 365).
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations of complex subjects to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
