Role:
We are looking for an experienced Chief Mechanic to work with our dynamic race-winning race team. You will be required to lead where necessary or work as part of a team, whilst being confident to work alone as needed.
The role will suit someone with a flexible approach and a ‘can-do’ attitude, who has the ability to work and prioritise within a high pressure, time sensitive environment, while still working methodically. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years’ experience, working trackside, at race and test events in addition to overseeing the preparation and maintenance of multiple race cars back at HQ.
Job Function, Duties & Responsibilities
• Efficient management of race team mechanics and their work loads.
• Ensure that race team mechanics complete workshop job cards for allocated race cars in an accurate and timely manner, pre and post event to capture all costs and workshop efficiencies.
• Consultation with Performance Manager to define job lists pre and post event for allocated race cars.
• Manage life of components and routine maintenance for allocated race cars.
• Compile list of necessary race car components and equipment following company and manufacturer process to pass onto the Team Manager for ordering and progressing.
• Take responsibility for preparation, scheduled maintenance, and repairs, for your allocated race cars.
• Work with the Team Manager, Performance Manager and the rest of the race team personnel to ensure race car preparation and performance to the highest standard.
• Assist with garage set-up at events and at the Company base, to ensure a premium appearance at all times.
• Ensure and maintain a clean, safe environment at race events and at the company base adhering to company Health and Safety Policy with a focus on mitigating, waste, tool damage or loss and risk of injury or mistakes.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures listed in the Company Handbook as applicable.
• Review race team mechanic performance on a quarterly basis and ensure appropriate training and development plan is in place.
• Assist with new junior race team onboarding and development plan.
• Perform other duties as needed when assigned by line manager.
• Attend all races, test days, and Greystone GT events as required.
• Will require travel in the UK, Europe and Worldwide.
