Role Description

As a Performance Engineer within our Hypercar/LMDh race program, you will play a key role in maximizing vehicle performance across simulation, testing, and race events. Working closely with the Race Engineer, drivers, and wider engineering team, you will be responsible for analysing car and driver data, identifying performance opportunities, and supporting strategic decisions during race weekends.

This role requires a deep technical understanding of modern prototype race cars, strong data analysis skills, and the ability to operate under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

 

The duties of the Performance Engineer will include:

  • Analyse telemetry, simulation, and track data (e.g. MoTeC, ATLAS, Pi Toolbox) to identify and implement performance improvements.
  • Support Race Engineer in developing optimal car setups based on data analysis, simulation, and driver feedback.
  • Monitor and manage vehicle performance during free practice, qualifying, and race sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with vehicle dynamics, tyre, systems, and simulation teams to validate tools and models.
  • Conduct competitor analysis using FIA data, onboard footage, and lap-time modelling.
  • Prepare detailed pre- and post-event reports highlighting key performance insights.
  • Lead data reviews with drivers and contribute to debriefs and strategy meetings.
  • Assist in developing automated tools for data processing and visualization.
  • Support rig tests, dyno work, and simulator sessions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with technical regulations and BoP (Balance of Performance) limitations.


 

The Performance Engineer should have the following desired skillset: 

  • Degree in Motorsport Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in professional motorsport, preferably in WEC, IMSA, or F1/F2.
  • Strong proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, ATLAS/MoTeC, Excel).
  • In-depth understanding of vehicle dynamics, tyre modelling, and aerodynamics.
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., lap-time simulation, driver-in-the-loop simulators).
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, high-stakes environments with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear interaction with drivers and technical teams.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively, including weekends and long hours at race and test events.
