Role Overview:

Primary function is to provide Tyre Performance analysis and operational guidance for high performance electric vehicles within the Vehicle Performance Group.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and correlate all aspects of the tyre models used in the team’s simulation tools: force & moment, thermal, thermo-mechanical, structural and dimensional.
  • Guide Tyre Performance testing activities including analysis of on-track and rig test data.
  • Provide support for Tyre usage optimisation to trackside Engineering.
  • Work with the Vehicle Performance Group, Race Engineering, Design & Electronics/Systems Engineering Departments on all aspects of Tyre Performance Engineering.  

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:

Essential

  • A University Engineering Graduate with experience at high level Motorsport or within the Tyre Industry.
  • Good breadth of experience in automotive/motorsport Tyre testing including the use of instrumentation / data logging / analysis systems (on-car and off-car).
  • Experience in the development and parameterisation of physical tyre models.
  • Experience in the usage of the Pacejka tyre model.
  • In-depth understanding of tyre construction and relating this to tyre behaviour as measured on track and as represented in tyre mathematical models.
  • MATLAB.

 

Desirable

  • Previous motorsport experience is not essential but highly recommended, preferably but not limited to, single seaters.
  • Experience at characterising road / tyre interface effects.

  • C++ / C#
