Trackside Performance Engineer - Performance Team

Mahindra Racing is a motor racing team based in Banbury, United Kingdom, competing with an Indian racing licence. The team is currently competing in the electric FIA Formula E Championship since the inaugural season in 2014

 

Role Overview:
Working as part of the Race Engineering Team and reporting to the Lead Performance Engineer, the Trackside Performance Engineer will work closely with the Race Engineer and Driver to optimise performance across race and test events and be a key contributor to the overall innovation, development, and implementation process for of car and driver performance.

This role will be travel based.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted analysis pre-, during- and post-session and event to optimise car and driver performance
  • Improve and develop new methodologies for performance analysis
  • Innovate on and deliver concepts both on- and off-car that produce performance differentiation from our competitors
  • Support DiL activities for event preparation, post-event correlation, system development and driver training
  • Attendance to test events as required.
  • Cross-team collaboration to drive progress toward our performance goals.


Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Proven track record of a performance engineering role at the top level of motorsport, specifically F1, FE or LMP. Minimum 2 years experience in trackside role.
  • Demonstrable understanding of vehicle dynamics fundamentals
  • Confident communicator, able to present and explain complex engineering subjects efficiently and effectively
  • A calm head on experienced shoulders, able to make structured decisions with sound reasoning
  • Evidence-based approach to problem solving.

 

Competences

  • Matlab/Simulink. Other programming languages such as Python, an advantage
  • TAG Ecosystem: ATLAS, System Monitor. vTAG exposure, an advantage

  • Works methodically with attention to detail
  • Leads by example, can and will motivate his/her team & peers
  • Personal flexibility to work hours as this role requires working away from home during weekends.
  • Practical approach of using rigorous logic and methods to solve problems.
