Systems Integration and Electronics Technician

Role Overview:

To manage and support the integration of all on car electronic systems. This will require electrical loom specification, design and manufacture in addition to assisting with the set up and configuration of relevant electronic systems.

You will also be required to develop off car electronic systems such as pit, bench testing and rig testing equipment for use at the track and in the factory.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage the specification and design of race and test car looms.
• Design and manufacture additional race and test looms when required.
• Prepare race and test car sensors for use at race and test events.
• Design and develop off car electronic systems such as pit equipment and test equipment.
• Carry out repairs to on and off car electronics.
• Travel to test and race events if and when required.
• Manage electronic consumables stock levels.
• Generation of technical documentation, procedures and specifications.
• Liaison with other engineering groups, technicians and race drivers.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience of designing and building wiring harnesses and electronic assemblies to MIL-SPEC standards is a must.
• Knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures of wiring harness.
• Experience in use of wiring harness optimization tools.
• A high-level understanding of Electrical and Electronic systems used within the Motorsport or Automotive industries.
• Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics design.
• Experience and knowledge of automotive electronic systems, CAN, data acquisition and sensing technology.
• Experience in the use of PCB design tools and Computer Aided Design Harness packages.
• Previous experience of working with hybrid or electric powertrains.
• Experience with McLaren Electronics Systems software tools such as System Monitor and ATLAS.
• Familiarity of working with high voltage electrical systems on hybrid or electric vehicles.
