We have a requirement for a Simulator Development Engineer working in a fast paced and progressive motorsport environment. The suitable candidate will report to the Head of Electronics and Control Systems and be responsible for the Driver In the Loop (DIL) Simulator. Knowledge and experience of MATLAB, Simulink and simulator systems is desired and a desire to learn and willingness to push your own boundaries is key. Experience in Formula E would be beneficial but not a requirement.

 

General Summary:

This position will be based in Silverstone in NIO’s new workshop and there is the option to support races from mission control. Working closely with Race Engineering, Vehicle Performance and Design groups, the Simulator Development Engineer would be fully responsible for the Simulator. To do this, they would need to identify weaknesses in the DIL, combine requirements from all groups, help form priorities and time line for development work and complete a large part of the Electronics and Controls development.

We are open to people of all knowledge and skill levels for this role.

 

Core Skills:

  • Educated to Degree level in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Related background. 2:1 minimum
  • Basic understanding of Vehicle Dynamic principles and their application to a motorsport environment
  • Basic knowledge of driving simulators such as rFPro, Cruden VI Grade, XPI Simulation and SimCoVR would be beneficial. We use rFPro
  • An understanding of electronic systems, CAN networks or IT networks would be beneficial.
