General Summary:

This position reports to the Deputy Head of Aerodynamics or his designee; is located in Parma, Italy. Responsible for managing, supporting and developing the model design and surface aspects of the Aerodynamics and Design Departments. Areas of influence will include full size surfacing, model design, model creation and CAD process enforcement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments
  • Development of processes with the design group for efficient part design
  • Evolution of best practices and standards within the design and surfacing groups
  • PLM system development to maximize efficiency of the complete design process
  • Definition and enforcement of CAD revision and maturity rules with the PLM system
  • Surface development with the CFD methodology group to improve throughput
  • Support inter-departmental release dates with the Aerodynamic development groups
  • Development of legality checks and enforcement of surface legality within models
  • Provide support for the administrative aspects of the department
  • Mentor and guide members with less experience
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Head of Aerodynamics.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Typically requires at least six years of experience within a Motorsport design role.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills required
  • Experience of 3D CAD software and the use of PLM systems require
  • Awareness of the importance of CAD revisions and their applications
  • Knowledge of current Formula One regulations and their interpretation is required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Italian require
  • Strong teamwork and people skills required
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task is essential

 

Equipment and Applications: 

  • Computer with Microsoft Office and engineering packages including but not limited to, the wind tunnel, CFD and CAD

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
