NIO 333 Racing Formula E Team, a manufacturer team competing in The FIA Formula E World Championship have a requirement for a PERFORMANCE ENGINEER.


Reporting to the Chief Race Engineer, you will :-

  • Work closely with the Race Engineers and Performance Group to define car set up.
  • Work in conjunction with the NIO 333 Control Systems Group to optimise performance from both car and driver at Race, Test and DIL simulator events.
  • Work with NIO 333 Team contracted drivers through All Race &Test events and DIL simulator sessions.
  • Use and assist in developing dedicated data acquisition software and additional analysis techniques, to analyse and optimise car performance in all areas of chassis and powertrain.
  • Be capable of providing pre and post event simulation, analysis and key performance metrics of vehicle performance in Race and Test events.
  • Compile detailed technical, Race, Test and DIL sim event reports.
  • Assist the Performance and Controls groups in developing the DIL Simulator through correlation with the Circuit.
  • Have the ability, to analyse and assess development items in a robust / rigorous manner.
  • Have some experience in the use of commercial software such as MATLAB and be familiar with modern programming languages such as PYTHON.
  • Be comfortable with extensive international travel.


Core Skills

  • Have a minimum 3 years’ relevant Performance Engineering experience in high level motorsport.
  • A thorough understanding of vehicle dynamics and the controlling parameters of car balance.
  • A thorough understanding of ride dynamics and damper optimization.
  • A base understanding of closed and open loop control systems.
  • An understanding of high voltage electrical powertrain performance factors would be beneficial, however, willingness to learn the various performance aspects of electrical powertrains will be fundamental.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure and work at pace.
  • The ability to work proactively and methodically with attention to detail.
  • High integrity with commitment to good governance.
  • Degree educated (Mechanical / Motorsport / Automotive Engineering).
