Performance Engineer
Performance Team

 

Mahindra Racing is a motor racing team based in Banbury, United Kingdom, competing with an Indian racing licence. The team is currently competing in the electric FIA Formula E Championship since the inaugural season in 2014.

 

Role Overview:
Working as part of a team of performance engineers within the Performance Engineering Group and reporting to the Lead Performance Engineer, the Race Performance Engineer will contribute to the factory-based performance engineering support across race and test events, DIL operation, and will be a key contributor to the overall innovation, development, and implementation process for optimisation of car and driver performance.


This role will be mainly factory based with some requirement to travel to tests in either UK or internationally.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribution to the factory-based performance engineering support activities for all race events
  • Provide targeted analysis pre-, during- and post-session and event to optimise car and driver performance
  • Improve and develop new methodologies for performance analysis
  • Optimise the data analysis workflow between factory and track, championing the streamlining and use of simulation tools to maximum effect
  • Innovate on and deliver concepts both on- and off-car that produce performance differentiation from our competitors
  • Support DiL activities for event preparation, post-event correlation, system development and driver training
  • Fulfil the role of Performance Engineer for DiL duties as required
  • Attendance to test events as required.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Proven track record of a performance engineering role at the top level of motorsport, specifically F1, FE or LMP
  • Demonstrable understanding of vehicle dynamics fundamentals
  • Confident communicator, able to present and explain complex engineering subjects efficiently and effectively
  • A calm head on experienced shoulders, able to make structured decisions with sound reasoning
  • Evidence-based approach to problem solving.


Advantageous Experience or Expertise

  • Strong background in tyre performance analysis
  • Previous experience of independently managing driver-in-loop simulator test programmes

  • Works methodically with attention to detail
  • Personal flexibility to work hours as required including weekends
  • Practical approach by using rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions.
