Porsche Penske Motorsport is looking for a qualified Parts Inventory Specialist to join our team
This role will be a vital member of our shop based and travelling racing organization as we race two Porsche 963 prototype sportscars in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) including the 24hrs of Le Mans with our manufacturer partner Porsche
This position will include extensive travel both domestic and internationally throughout the year
Time periods of 2-3 weeks away from the home base is expected
This full-time position is available at Mannheim, Germany facility
Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for parts inventory management with Porsche Motorsport Management software
Management of the parts store and inventory to ensure adequate resources for the race team to complete the shop-based and on track work at all times.
Manage parts ordering through Porsche software and processes, following the complete supply chain from the order request to the parts hand out
Define and control part stock targets within given budget guidelines
Responsible for ordering and purchase order origination using team purchasing and accounting software for all parts and items required by the team, following company policies and practices
Manage and communicate Technical Information and updates in agreement with the Crew Chief
Responsible for setting expectations in agreement with the Crew Chief for preparation of spares and service kits and checking these parts are prepared to these expectations
Aide the mechanics in mileage tracking of components of the race cars through life software
Manage inventory of consumables and supplies including hardware
Ensure continuous improvement for all storage and inventory processes
Responsible for handling and international shipping of parts and consumables
Aide the department for all logistics within the championship
Ensure all required parts are included in necessary shipments
This includes supporting with customs requirements, VAT compliance, carnet handling, international shipping requirements and regulations, and temporary import requirements.
Race team support tasks along with other members in the Parts and Logistics Department
Traveling with the team to all race and test events, un-/load trucks and containers, setting up garages, equipment and structures
Organization and storage management of spare part cases in trucks, containers and shipping crates
Desired Qualifications:
Required 3 years of experience in racing, parts handling, logistics
Microsoft Office suite and computer knowledge required
Ability to travel internationally and with the race team required
English language skills required, German preferred
International racing team parts management experience preferred
Experience with SAP Inventory Management software preferred
