We are the motorsport subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, which is part of the Hyundai Motor Group, one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. Based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt in Germany, we are responsible for Hyundai’s global motorsport activities, primarily for its FIA World Rally Championship program. In parallel to our successful WRC campaign, Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing enhances Hyundai’s motorsport image around the world even further with the Hyundai i20 R5 rally cars and Hyundai i30 N TCR cars for circuit racing. In recent years, Hyundai has been one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in the world, which in no small part was achieved thanks to our motorsports results on the global arena. We are currently hiring for various roles, and are inviting applications from across the marketing mix to join our exciting and creative team. These positions would suit someone with a passion for motorsport, though this is not a pre-requisite.

 

Key responsibilities

As a member of the Marketing team, you will be tasked with the different promotional challenges surrounding the diverse business of Hyundai Motorsport, from the campaign in the World Rally Championship to Customer Racing in R5 and TCR. Your responsibilities will range from assisting with aspects of bigger strategic projects, such as the hospitality program, to developing your own initiatives in communications with customers and fans.

While you will be expected to contribute to the on going operation of existing campaigns, you should also identify and explore opportunities to be at the forefront of new projects – by creating concepts, working on strategy, planning budgets, negotiating with suppliers, agencies, partners and finally bringing them to life.

Due to the growing nature of our operations, your job position will require a high level of flexibility to adapt to new tasks. Furthermore, as our business revolves around different international motorsport series, some travel to events may be expected, dependant on the responsibility.

 

Qualities

Education in marketing or economics is required, however your existing work experience will also be taken into consideration. Regardless of your specific background, if you love cars and racing and you are willing to learn from the best in the industry, we can offer you the opportunity to improve your professional skills.

An existing understanding of motorsport is advantageous, but not compulsory. Our company is a ‘melting pot of nations’, therefore an open mind and willingness to work with people from different cultures is highly important. Our team language is English, which is used for all official internal and external communications. However, an understanding of other languages would be useful for this position.

Working for a creative department, you should be able to think out of the box, be innovative and not be afraid to offer your opinions. Suggesting ideas often means visualising them and proving them, so you should know how to work with the MS Office package, while skills in graphic design (e.g. experience with the Adobe package) is also useful.

As we work as a team, your ability to listen to others and find a compromise will be invaluable in creating solutions! Due to the versatile nature of this role, you should have good time management skills, as well as be prepared to work outside of normal hours when required. Last but not the least, this role requires you to work under pressure and cope well with stress: marketing can be largely misunderstood, and many don’t understand the hard job we’re doing by creating ‘intangible’ value. Therefore it is important that you believe in what you’re doing and contributing to!
