2018 Event Marketing Internship


Dates: February 19, 2018 – September 17, 2018

Hours: 20 Hours a week, potential travel to events;  IndyCar Team will consider alternate schedules to be flexible with class and work schedules. 

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Compensation: Non-Paid Internship, may apply towards college credit

Expenses: Travel Expenses will be paid by IndyCar Team if travel is required

Other: Intern must provide laptop for use during the internship dates

Job Description Overview

IndyCar Team is looking for the next ambitious team player to join for the 2018 season.   

Intern will work closely with the IndyCar Team to learn about the business of events and marketing.  This will include event production & planning, administrative, client services, procurement, research, branding, and operations.

The goal would be that an Intern would show exceptional skills during their internship, therefore resulting in a full-time and/or contract position, if one is available, at the conclusion of their internship. 

The intern position will report to the VP, Event & Marketing Operations.

  • Prior event and/or marketing experience or education (not required, but preferred)

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

o  Assist VP, Event & Marketing Operations.  with:

  • Research projects
  • Event & Marketing conception and ideation
  • Event planning
  • Budgeting
  • Vendor pricing, procurment, out reach and relationship building

o  Event Staffing at necessary IndyCar Races


Additional requirements of the Position

  • The position has the potential to be a traveling position
  • The position will require working hours outside a normal 9 to 5 working environment.  Early mornings and late nights are the norm on event weekends.  Weekend work is routine to the position.
  • This position must maintain a strong professional working relationship with each vendor, while keeping a certain professional distance. 
  • Discretion, confidentiality, poise in pressure situations, ability to maintain proprietary information, stamina and a sense of humor are hallmark traits of a successful IndyCar Team member.
