General Summary:

This is a fixed term position for an electronics design engineer (CAD). This position reports to the Factory Electronics Team Leader or their designee; located in Banbury, UK.  Responsibilities include the harness design of electrical parts both on and off car in CAD in accordance with the F1 technical regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Design of on and off-car harnesses, boxes, sensors, and other assemblies ensuring they meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Design of FIA, FOM and supplier component installations in accordance with their requirements, working closely with mechanical design.
  • Provide installation manuals & associated documentation to help trackside installation of harnesses, boxes, sensors and associated brackets.
  • Continuously monitor and improve on and off car installations, design standards and operational processes and procedures.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Factory Electronics Team Leader or their designee.

 

Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including University Degree or equivalent in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Previous experience of working in an Electronics design role in a high-level motorsport or automotive environment is essential.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of working with CAD design packages.
  • Have an excellent understanding of electronics design on an F1 chassis and ability to produce accurate drawings to a high standard.
  • Experience of harness manufacturing standards and procedures.
  • Strong technical background in racing car
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Advanced level of CAD design experience (e.g. Catia/3DX)
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
