Role Overview: 

Primary function is to Support DIL Simulator activities for high performance electric vehicles, as part of the DIL group within the Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation section.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on the DIL simulator.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the DIL is running the required level of software.
  • Coordinate the planning of DIL sessions in terms of personnel, physical systems and control software systems.
  • Be capable (with training) of running and being responsible for DIL sessions with Race and Development drivers.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of DIL test sessions.
  • Coordinate with the Race Engineering & Electronics and Control Systems Departments on all aspects of DIL simulator running.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:


  • Experience working with commonly used Race car mechanical and electrical systems (e.g. steering, hydraulics, brake systems, looms).
  • Experience with experimental instrumentation.
  • Good level of Computer literacy, preferably including the use of data logging / analysis systems.
  • Good understanding of technical drawings.



  • Previous motorsport experience is not essential but highly recommended.
  • Experience with McLaren Electronics Systems software tools such as System Monitor and ATLAS
  • Prior DIL operation experience in automotive or motorsports environment
  • Basic coding ability in Matlab/Simulink or VBA
