The MotorSport Vision Group owns and operates six of the top motor racing venues in the UK. We have a vacancy for a Design Engineer based at Bedford Autodrome, home of the market-leading PalmerSport corporate motorsport driving event.
The role is primarily to support the large racing car and performance car fleet used during PalmerSport events. As well as adapting new vehicles for use on the fleet there is a continual demand to improve and evolve the vehicles in terms of performance, reliability, durability and safety. Additionally, there is a large need across the MSV Group for mechanical engineering solutions, as applicable to multiple facets of our business activity, both on and off the race circuits and extending beyond vehicle related projects.
The role would suit an engineer and designer with a strong automotive or motorsport background, but who is also in possession of excellent overall general mechanical engineering design skills, knowledge and experience. A high level of expertise using CAD to create 2D drawings and 3D models is essential, with NX8.5 familiarity being preferred over other CAD packages.
To meet the challenges of this role you will need to be used to a fast-paced, results-driven environment and will ideally have around 10 years’ experience working in a relevant industry and role. Working within the team at Bedford Autodrome you will, in addition to the design aspects of the role, need to be involved with pricing, cost-engineering, progress-chasing, specifying, sourcing and manufacturing components and also be familiar with assembling bills of materials and setting out production processes.
Excellent resource and people management skills are an essential part of the role to ensure rapid and effective roll-out of designs. Additionally, overseeing our in-house fabrication and manufacturing capability is part of the job and responsibilities.
Accurate and concise written and communication skills are essential, as is a high level of familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety legislation and its application within an automotive engineering–based workplace would be advantageous.
Please apply with a covering letter including salary expectations, notice period and current CV.
