We have a requirement for a Controls Performance Engineer working in a fast paced and progressive motorsport environment. The suitable candidate will report to the Head of Electronics and Control Systems and be responsible for liaising with the Race Engineering and Vehicle Performance groups to develop and manage all performance related control systems. Knowledge and experience of MATLAB, Simulink and a strong understanding of Vehicle Dynamics is required with experience using these in a motorsport environment. Mathematical modelling and simulation experience preferred and experience in Formula E would be beneficial.

This position will be based in Silverstone in NIO 333 Racing new workshop and ideally support races from mission control. Can be flexible with work and travel arrangements for the right candidate.

Core Skills:

  • Educated to Degree level in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Related background. 2:1 minimum
  • Must have minimum three years’ experience of control or performance engineering in a motorsport environment
  • Experience with Canopy and QS Simulations tools and their application to track running.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycles, development environment, source management and collaboration tools
  • Knowledge of mathematical modelling and simulation techniques
  • Strong understanding of Vehicle Dynamic principles and their application to a motorsport environment

 

Additional Desirable Attributes:

  • A proven ability to work to tight deadlines in a group or alone
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for embedded development
  • Experience with McLaren Applied Technology tools and libraries (GDE, ATLAS, etc.).
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment
  • Self-motivation with a will to contribute to race support
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Analytical and methodical worker
