Car Build and Procedures Engineer

Reports To: Team Manager

Location: Donington and Oxford

 

Main Responsibilities

  • The main focus of the job will be to create car build documentation that includes all aspects of what are essentially prototype vehicles. 
  • All documentation will be detailed and meticulous in nature in order to deliver the same high quality build to the race track every race weekend.
  • Car build documentation will be augmented with process and procedure documentation that outlines in detail all aspects of a car build from tightening torques on all threaded elements of the car through to procedures for quality processes and building the car at the garage and at the race track.
  • Together with the Chief Engineer and Chief Mechanic, ensure that all the cars are built and prepared to the same pre-determined standard and specification, and that all individual car job lists and set-up sheets are strictly adhered to.
  • Ensure that all job lists and set up sheets are up to date and accurate according to build schedules and requirements from race engineering.
  • Ensure that all communication/bulletins from chassis/engine manufactures are distributed and actioned correctly.
  • Responsible for all team procedures: required to build a database of procedures.
  • Reliability is a high priority in the Formula E series, with only one day of operations.  The person will be responsible for taking results of investigations of faults and making processes and procedures from these in order to solve problems at subsequent races
  • The person will be responsible for designing, costing and getting rigs, jigs and other equipment purchased or made to go with the processes and procedures that are necessary

 

         Key Competencies:

  • Quality process experience
  • Engineer with Diploma or Degree education preferred
  • Experience with motorsports process and procedures especially from F1/LMP1/GP2
  • Detail oriented person
  • Organisational skills
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
