Battery Cell Developer for Formula 1

YOUR MISSION

• Concept, design, and property development for the battery cell, in line with the requirements of the F1 Regulations 2026 
• Steering the development of the battery cell with suitable development partners
• Assessing cell components and combinations at the material level
• Assisting with the technical analysis of test bench results at the cell, module, and overall HV battery levels
• Component responsibility for the battery cell including supplier management, scheduling

YOUR PROFILE

• Degree in electrochemistry, chemistry, energy storage technology (battery), or mechanical engineering and experience with the development of battery cells
• Experience with cell design 
• Good knowledge of the latest lithium-ion battery technology 
• Good knowledge of various battery materials (anode, electrolyte, cathode, separator, etc.) and their influence on fast charging / discharging
• Experience with various methods for conducting cell tests and the ability to analyze corresponding test records
• Experience with battery aging mechanisms including fault analysis
• Experience in the area of ??battery safety
• Interest in integrating the battery cell in a functional overall system
• Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to learn a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites
• Strong implementation skills and a high level of motivation and personal initiative
• Excellent team skills
• Targeted, independent, and structured work habits

In the field of high-voltage storage development, you will work on the key component of high-performance electric drive systems and play your part in ensuring we are able to succeed in a highly competitive environment. You will be involved in requirements management, through methods development to the detailed design, for HV battery concepts, HV electronics as well as battery cells definitions for high-performance motorsports applications, and you will accompany your development through assembly all the way to the tests on the in-house test facility.
 

ABOUT US

From 2026, Audi will enter the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with an internally developed power unit and a works team.
The power unit will be developed at Audi Sport's state-of-the-art Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg an der Donau . This means a Formula 1 drive system will be made in Germany for the first time since 2009.

By entering the premier class of motorsports, Audi is taking on its greatest challenge to date when it comes to combining sustainability, innovation and optimum motorsport performance. Audi's decision was driven by the rule changes announced by the governing body of world motorsports, the FIA. From 2026, sustainable synthetic fuels will be required to be used and the electrical content of the hybrid power unit will be increased to almost 50 percent. Audi intends to actively support the transformation of what is by far the most important motorsport series. The power unit will be developed by more than 300 employees at the Neuburg an der Donau site. The Formula 1 program will spearhead Audi's works-based motorsport activities going forward.

Audi Formula Racing GmbH has been established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Audi Sport GmbH with responsibility for Audi's Formula 1 project. We are currently assembling a high-performance team to develop the power unit. Take the leap into the highest class of motorsports and be a part of Audi's journey as it writes the next chapter in its illustrious motorsport history! We are looking for experts in technical roles in particular.
