General Summary: 

 Reporting to the Deputy Head of Aerodynamics; in Parma, Italy. Responsibility to support and develop the operational aspects of the Aerodynamics Department. Areas of influence will include experimental development, computational development, full size components and departmental software development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Support model design to ensure resource allocation is aligned with requirements
  • Support of model scale production to ensure timely delivery of components
  • Evolution of best practices and standards within model scale design and surfacing
  • Development of processes with Haas model scale machining department
  • Process development with the CFD methodology group to improve throughput
  • Support inter-departmental release dates with the Aerodynamic development groups
  • Provide support for the administrative aspects of the department
  • Mentor and guide members with less experience
  • Follow and maintain safety standards in all venues
  • Assume any responsibilities delegated by his or her seniors

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline required. Typically requires at least 4 years of experience in similar roles in the automobile racing industry.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills with experience of coding a distinct benefit.
  • Experience of 3D CAD software and the use of PLM systems required.
  • Understanding of the aerodynamic development process of a race car is required so that department wide processes can be followed and enforced.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Italian and English preferred, teamwork, and people skills.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Computer with Microsoft Office and engineering packages including but not limited to, the wind tunnel, CFD and CAD.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
